Business Narrative Report

Introduction

Central Mindanao University (CMU) is a renowned public research university located in the province of Bukidnon, Philippines. The university is a melting pot of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. As part of our efforts to better understand the daily challenges faced by individuals in the university's community, we conducted a survey of 50 randomly selected individuals to identify any issues that have inconvenienced their daily lives. We hypothesized that transportation and distance-related problems would be among the most common issues faced by students, faculty, and staff members.

Results of the Survey

Our survey revealed that the top three problems faced by individuals in CMU were transportation, time, and distance. Many students and faculty members found it challenging to commute to different parts of the campus, especially during peak hours. The distance between various facilities, such as the library, lecture halls, and laboratories, was also a significant challenge. The lack of time was another significant challenge, with many individuals reporting that they had trouble managing their time effectively due to a busy academic schedule.

Proposal for a Solution

To address these challenges, we propose the implementation of a shuttle service called "Sakay" that would cater to the transportation needs of the CMU community. The service would be operated by individual entrepreneurs, in partnership with the motorela association, and would provide a convenient and affordable mode of transportation for students, faculty, and staff. This shuttle service would have fixed routes and schedules that would cover different parts of the campus, making it easier for individuals to commute between different facilities. This would also help in reducing the time spent on travel and enable them to manage their time better. The proposed shuttle service would have several benefits, such as reducing the burden on the limited parking space in the university, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable transportation. Furthermore, the service would also provide a safer and more secure mode of transportation, particularly for female students who often feel unsafe commuting on their own.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the survey conducted at Central Mindanao University highlighted the challenges faced by individuals with regards to transportation, distance, and time. The proposal for a shuttle service called Sakay could help alleviate these challenges and improve the daily lives of individuals in the CMU community. We hope that the university authorities will take note of this proposal and take the necessary steps to implement it. The implementation of Sakay would not only provide a solution to the transportation issues but also promote sustainable and safe transportation on campus.
